After graduating from Arizona State University with his Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Judd immediately combined his love for design and his passion for the restaurant business by lending his creative genius to myriad restaurant projects. His “design spirit” continues to be fed through his love for using a combination of new and classic materials to deliver design solutions that challenge and excite his client’s imagination. Judd’s satisfaction in his professional life comes from happy clients enjoying creative yet effective design. Judd balances his professional life through his dedication to family and church. His grandchildren continually light his life and help to inspire his favorite hobbies like worldwide travel, landscape and event design and of course… FOOTBALL!

Steven McMahon

Since co-founding the firm with Judd Brown in 1983, Steve has been Project Executive on most of the company’s major projects. As Executive Vice President of Studio JBD since its inception he is actively involved in the planning and architectural design of each project with a particular focus on Private Club Master Planning, project budgeting and contract administration. His financial acumen coupled with design sensibility and laser like client focus contributes to overwhelming project success both operationally and financially.

When he is not in the office or visiting a client, Steve is a consummate sports fan; he particularly loves hockey, although no longer actively playing. He also loves to vacation and spend time with his 4 grandchildren with his wife Lori, usually with a little country music playing in the background.

Wayne graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Master’s Degree in Architecture with high honors and the Alpha Rho Chi medal for outstanding graduate student. His forte is design and drawing while focusing on context, scale, planning and architectural style. Wayne feeds his passion for architecture with his watercolors and sketches of daily life along with continuous professional development.

As Lead Architect and Senior Planner for Studio JBD and Principal of Jefferson Group Architecture, Wayne lends his extensive planning and architectural expertise and guidance to Private Club Master Plans and restaurant concepts as well as overall design and review. Between his duties as Principal in charge for major projects in New York, New Jersey, New England and throughout the US, Wayne manages to find time for his other life passions. He is an avid cyclist, both on and off road and loves kayaking and stand up paddle boarding.

Peter M. Cafaro

Since joining the company in 1999, Peter has been part of the senior management team directly responsible for the marketing and business development of Studio JBD and JGA. Through his expansive knowledge of the Private Club Industry and regular participation at Regional and National Club conferences and education sessions, his responsibilities have expanded to include direct responsibility for process development and communications for the company’s Private Club Master Planning. He engages directly with club management and leadership assisting with member communication and organization assuring successful project results.
In between visits to clubs, Peter can usually be found on his bicycle. As a part time Spinning instructor and an avid road cyclist, he tries to squeeze in a ride whenever possible and you can usually find his bicycle in the back of his car. Peter also enjoys cooking and relaxing on the beach, an occasional round of golf and his winter sport of Snowmobiling.

John Bell

John, originally hailing from Southern California became tired of the perpetual sun and decided on a professional career in New England.  His love and proficiency in theater design made him a natural for designing the most notable hospitality venues.  John first joined Studio JBD in 2003.  After 7 years, John decided to expand his horizons through a partnership in MND, a most notable and revered restaurant design firm.

After more than 6 years broadening his design experience and expertise, John has recently returned to Studio JBD to lead interior design.  He will be responsible for all aspects of the operations of the interior design department and be intimately involved in project creative.

In his “spare time” John has had a constant curiosity and a love of travel with a willingness to try just about anything.  He loves classic cars and is a certified scuba diver.  He has run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, gone paragliding in the Alps, rappelling and spelunking in California and camping on the beach in Mexico.

John and his wife Karen met in college and have been married since 1995.  They have one son whose name was picked with help from JBD team members voting on a list of 8 different names.  His name is Gavin.

With her accounting degree from Johnson and Wales University, Lisa celebrates 20 years at Studio JBD and JGA. She began her career here as an Accounting Assistant. It soon became evident that her talent and commitment was underutilized and today she is the company Controller. Her responsibilities include all financial and accounting functions as well as oversight of Human Resources and the procurement department.

Lisa loves to travel, especially when her journey takes her near the water. She loves to cruise and is committed to fitness but above all loves to have fun with her husband and two children.

Peter joined Studio JBD and Jefferson Group in 1992. Since then he has been responsible for the management and document production of many of the firm’s most significant clubhouse and restaurant projects. His professional yet disarming approach to even the most complex projects has given his clients a strong sense of control and caring. Peter is committed to providing the very best of creativity, precision and prioritization in everything he does.

When Peter is not in the office or on the road he is usually embarking on one of his many home improvement projects. Usually with one of his sons he also enjoys the occasional round of golf, some fishing and has recently taken up the guitar.

Beginning his professional career in 1985 having completed his education in architecture and interior design, it became immediately evident that he would excel at his chosen career. Mark has leveraged his in-depth project management experience with his penchant for technology enabling the company to successfully complete myriad projects of significant size and scope with the most up to date technology.

The success of his and his team’s work is directly attributable to his ability to communicate and mentor, taking pride in all aspects of each project.

If you ask Mark about his passion for personal defense, you will likely get a lesson on the spot. He is one of the Nation’s top firearms instructors and a fierce competitor, securing over 50 championship titles in state, national and world competitions.

Hailing from Ohio, this Midwest lady came to Studio JBD and JGA by way of a long career in the movies – theaters that is! Working her way up from selling popcorn and soda, through her passion for learning and commitment to excellence, she found herself the head of the Food and Beverage operations at one of the country’s largest theater chains’ flagship.

Now, with direct responsibility for day to day office functions, Human Resources, scheduling and tending to the many needs of our design professionals, she is a very busy woman. Apart from Studio JBD and JGA, Ashley manages to find time to fulfill a devout commitment to her church, volunteering around the holidays and soaking up the sun – all with a constant smile and an infectious laugh.

With an education from Katherine Gibbs College, Ana, through her unique personal and professional style, continues to elevate her department to new heights of efficiency and spirit. Her commitment to detail and unwavering passion for “getting it right” has proven invaluable in one of the company’s most critical areas.
Ana spends much of her free time with her kids as their personal chauffeur, but manages to sneak in an occasional “Saints” football game.

Mr. Sousa joined Studio JBD and JGA in 2001 and has since been responsible for concept development, interior design, logo and graphics design for many of the firm’s most notable Private Club, restaurant and residential projects. Manny’s 20 plus years of experience together with his originality creating “one of a kind” design and his unique sense of humor has endeared him to all of his clients and co-workers alike.

Manny is the consummate dad, spending much of his personal time with his two boys. Whether they are watching sports or biking, swimming or just hanging out, family is Manny’s most cherished pastime.

Kris Pienschke

Graduating from Columbus College of Art and Design Kris joined the Studio JBD team as a Designer in 2011, bringing her skills as a creative force who consistently “plays outside of the box”. Through her creativity and perseverance, she has progressed to the position of Senior Designer, responsible for many of the firm’s largest projects.

As Lynn Grabhorn once stated, “we create by feeling, not by thinking”; and with her charismatic personality and love for the arts she pours herself into every design. She brings seven years of worldwide hotel design experience to the team, along with the past several years of creating timeless and stunning design for some of this country’s most notable Private Clubs.

Some of Kris’s other creative outlets include mixed media painting, obstacle course racing and she is an avid outdoor adventurer.

Jesse’s 15+ years of experience in the interior design field, as both an owner and senior employee along with his background in the arts and building construction enables him to naturally integrate the artistic/conceptual side of design with the practical. His built projects are highly transformative and constructible with special attention to maintaining and celebrating the historical relevance of the venue. His approach is warm and attentive always building close relationships with his clients.

Jesse’s warm and friendly demeanor extends well into his personal life where he is devoted to his wife and children taking every opportunity for family road trips. As a US history buff and with some old school country music in the background, their trips explore little out of the way inns and restaurants with special attention to places having played a significant role in the building of our nation.

Mr. Hayes brings more than two decades of experience across North and South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and an established track record of exceptional Design and project management. His client and vendor relationships combined with a lifelong passion for Design and creativity and a penchant for colors, materials, furniture, fixtures, and accessories uniquely positions Dean to consistently exceed our client’s expectations.

Dean, when not at work spends his time with his cherished family traveling and experiencing the outdoors through camping, hiking and fishing. He also loves great music and dancing along with cooking and home projects.
